New and Exciting 2017 Weekend Warrior
Now a 19' tandem axle caravan with 6” box steel chassis and composite floor and roof
The all new Crusader Weekend Warrior has taken the Australian caravan market by storm, not just because of its fantastic looks and fit out, and not just because it's built to Crusaders high quality standards offering a one piece fibreglass roof with no joins and a one piece floor for strength, but because the Weekend Warrior is so affordably priced for anyone considering a new or used caravan purchase.
"After launching the Weekend Warrior last year, we have further refined and improved its specification level to make it an even more attractive proposition " said Max Mayo, Sales and Marketing Manager for Crusader. "Once the market finds out what you get for their money, we predict that the Weekend Warrior will become our best selling caravan ever" Mayo said.
The improvements adopted in 2017 include:
· A massive 6” steel chassis and drawbar instead of the 4” chassis and drawbar offered last year
· An increase in length from 18’ to 19’
· A thick 30mm composite one piece roof that is fully insulated and hail resistant
· A 42mm thick composite floor, fully insulated and with underbody protection
· Rear checkerplate to compliment the front and side checkerplate
· Lighter tare weight of around 1800kg thanks to the new construction techniques
· Larger wheels and tyres up from 15” by 195 to 15” by 205
· A full size queen mattress instead of a mattress bolster
· New stylish decals
The initial impression is one of luxury. The large dual pane windows, the robust roll out awning, the reverse cycle roof top air conditioner, the absolutely huge front tunnel boot storage, the stylish alloy wheels and the sliver checker plate, the smooth, strong front and rear walls, even a three locking point security door all imply a far more expensive caravan than the selling price displayed.
What strikes you first are the clear cut lines
and the fresh, light and airy look and feel inside. The rear door entry near
the bathroom is appealing and the eye immediate gravitates to the large and
comfortable cafe dinette seating with a pedestal table and above the table are
conveniently placed LED reading lights and 240v/12v power.
The strong yet light Duratech box steel chassis with Eye to Eye suspension offers a load capability of up to 2600kg. The Weekend Warrior weighs in at around 1800kg with a ball weight of around 120kg, the end result being a huge carrying capacity of over 3/4 tonne, exceptional in a van this size, Great for a Prado, even a Commodore.
Continuing the strength story, the floor and the roof are composite sandwich panel construction, fully insulated and hail and dent resistant. The walls sit on top of the 42mm floor and the roof sits atop of the walls to form and self-reinforcing structure. The walls are strong Meranti timber all 2”x1” timbers, eliminating the traditional 1"x1" timber supports and additionally, decreasing the spacing between all supports to no more than 10" (250mm) offering massive strength to cope with the road conditions that Australia has to offer.
The bathroom is impressive, it's so spacious and offers a full height separate shower and ceramic bowl toilet, something unexpected in a budget priced van. Add on to that, a ceramic bowl vanity, a hinged door to the shower and a privacy door to the bathroom, on the road luxury is now available to everyone.
Cooking is a breeze with the gas electric cooktop and grill and a complimentary Laminex cooktop lid that creates a great visual effect and gives the appearance of a huge kitchen. The four burner cooktop offers three gas and one electric hotplate.
There is a large sink with a drain board and flick mixer tap for that feeling of a home away from home. It has a massive cutlery draw an oversized pot drawer and heaps of top and bottom cupboard space.
All the cupboard doors are fitted with full width piano hinges for rigidity and Italian made locking cupboard D-handles for easy use. The over head cupboards doors are fitted with gas struts for easy lifting and again no compromise here!
A good night's sleep is a must and the comfortable innerspring mattress and slatted bed base will ensure the perfect night's sleep in readiness for the next day’s fun filled adventures.
The bed is a queen size bed now with a full size innerspring mattress and no bolster
Large wardrobes are located either side of the bed with heaps of hanging space and a huge pull out drawer for those other items. The pigeonhole at the bottom of each wardrobe offers the convenience of a bedside table to safely put drinks, glasses, the obligatory phone and even a Sleep Apnoea Machine. And includes a 12v socket to charge electrical items.
